Sweet Bites from Trader Joe's
If you have a sweet tooth, hate waste and know that having an entire cake in your house is too tempting, Trader Joe's Sweet Bites is the dessert for you! There is a little something for everyone in the box which has 4 each of 3 different cakes. There is a Chocolate and Coffee "Opera" cake which is like a Tiramisu with a chocolate wafer on top. There is a Raspberry "Macaron Aux Framboises" cake which is white cake with raspberry filling, creme and toasted coconut on top. The third cake is a Caramel and Chocolate cake which is a chocolate cake with a caramelized brulee on top. All of the cakes are light and delicious.
The cakes store in the freezer and are packaged nicely so that it is easy for you to remove just the number you want. Place the ones you want to serve in the frig for a few hours to thaw. If you are spending the evening by yourself, you can just take out one or two and put the box back in the freezer. There is no waste or the temptation that you might have with an entire chocolate cake in the house. Having guests over for dinner? Place them all on a platter, thaw in the frig for a few hours and there will be something to please everyone when dessert time comes around.
The box of Sweet Bites costs $5.99 at Trader Joe's and is located in the frozen dessert section. The cakes range in caloric content from 60 to 80 calories each, so if you are counting calories, you won't blow the whole day by enjoying a few. Having them store in the freezer gives you an extra line of defense against overindulging your sweet tooth because they are out of sight and need to be thawed, instead of being out on the counter ready for immediate consumption while calling out to you as chocolate candy does. Okay, maybe it is just me!
