When it comes to Tazo Chai Tea Latte, the adjective that comes to mind repeatedly is "wonderful!" . Chai Tea is black tea blended with the spices vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and cardamom. The concentrate I reviewed has caffeine, but there is a decaffeinated product offered by Tazo too. Because Tazo Chai Tea Latte is concentrated, you have to mix it with an equal amount of milk before you can enjoy it hot or cold. An 8oz cup calls for 1/2 cup of mix with 1/2 cup of milk, a 12 oz cup would call for 3/4 cup of mix with 3/4 cup of milk. If you prefer a milder flavor, add more milk and less mix. I use 1% milk, but you can use whatever type of milk you like, even milk substitute. The box is stored in the pantry and has a 1 year shelf life. Once it is opened, it should be refrigerated and used within 7 days.
It is not only great tasting, but can offer significant savings over the cost of buying it from the nearest coffee shop. Here is the math, because I love math:
1 box (32oz.) = $3.50 = 8 (8oz.) servings = .44 per serving
Okay, okay, I hear you! Those are 8oz servings and the smallest you ever get is a 12oz. serving.
1 box = $3.50 = 5.3 servings = .66 per serving
Coffee Shop = 1 serving = $3.25
5 (12oz.) servings at home = $3.50 vs. 5 (12oz.) coffee shop > $16.25
And, it gets even better! Costco sells a pack of 3 boxes of Tazo Chai Tea Latte for $7.89
I know, I did not add the price of the milk, but I feel the cost of the milk negates the cost of the gas needed to drive to the coffee shop plus the tax on the latte. Enjoy Tazo Chai Tea Latte black tea concentrate not only when you are Tired of Cooking, but also when you are tired of spending too much on lattes!
To make a beautiful lattes, get a Bodum milk frother like the one I used in the video from amazon.com. If you would like to get a membership to Costco, visit costco.com for details.
