Marketside Southwest Salad

If you are looking for a salad with a little kick, Walmart's Marketside Southwest Salad is the salad for you.  It comes with several fresh ingredients: sliced grilled chicken breast, a combination of lettuces (Iceberg and Romaine, but more Iceberg than Romaine), shredded cheese, purple cabbage, carrots, pico de gallo ( onion, tomato, cilantro and jalepeno), some very interesting tortilla strips and a creamy chipotle ranch dressing which gathers all the southwest flavors together to make one big happy family.  The tortilla strips include the usual crispy corn strips, but they also include crispy red peppers that pack a little heat.

The packaging of this salad allows consumers to adjust the spice according to their preferences.  The dressing, pico de gallo and the tortilla/red pepper crisps are individually wrapped so you can use them all to turn on the heat or use a little to keep it interesting.  The tender grilled chicken is mild enough that it's flavor is enhanced by the other ingredients in the salad.  The dressing compliments the chicken nicely.

The package indicates that the salad includes 5 servings, however I don't use it as a side salad, I use it as a meal and am able to get two meals from one container.  I have seen a variation on the packaging, so you may not see the exact same package.  An employee told me that they make them fresh in house.  It costs $3.98 at Walmart and is located in the salad section close to the deli. Enjoy!  Yee Ha!

If you prefer Romaine lettuce and are not in the mood for a little heat, the Marketside Chicken Caesar Salad is great too!
